An Energy Audit is a systematic inspection and analysis of energy use and consumption of a site, building, or organization. The goal is to identify Energy Saving Measures (ESMs) to reduce energy input without negatively affecting output or comfort. Under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024, affected installations are required to conduct a Mandatory Energy Audit every 5 years.
Why You Need This Service Now
- Mandatory Under EECA 2024: If your facility consumes >21,600 GJ/year or your office is >8,000 sqm, a technical audit by a Registered Energy Auditor (REA) is required by law.
- Identify ROI: Don't guess which machine to replace. Our audit provides a Return on Investment (ROI) and Payback Period analysis for every recommendation.
- Avoid Fines: Failure to submit the mandatory audit report to Suruhanjaya Tenaga can lead to fines of up to RM100,000.
Types of Audits We Provide
We follow the ISO 50002 and ASHRAE auditing standards:
- Level 1 (Walk-Through Audit): A basic visual inspection and data review to identify simple "low-hanging fruit" savings.
- Level 2 (General Audit): Detailed data analysis and site measurements of major equipment (Chillers, Motors, Boilers) with a full financial analysis.
- Level 3 (Investment Grade Audit): The most detailed audit involving long-term data logging and high-precision modeling, suitable for large capital projects.
Our 10-Step Auditing Process
- Initial Contact: Discussing your energy goals and facility size.
- Opening Meeting: Meeting your technical team to align on the audit scope.
- Data Collection: Reviewing 12–36 months of electricity and fuel bills.
- Site Walk-Through: Visual inspection of the entire facility and its energy users.
- Field Measurements: Using Power Quality Analyzers, Ultrasonic Flowmeters, and Thermal Imagers to track energy flow.
- Analysis of Energy Use: Creating an Energy Baseline and identifying Significant Energy Users (SEUs).
- Identification of Savings: Brainstorming technical and operational improvements.
- Economic Evaluation: Calculating the cost, savings, and payback period for each measure.
- Draft Report: Presenting findings to your management for feedback.
- Final Report & Submission: Delivering the final document and assisting with submission to the Energy Commission.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. How much does an energy audit cost?
Cost depends on the Level of audit (1, 2, or 3) and the size of the facility. However, the audit usually pays for itself within months through the savings identified.
2. How long does the audit take?
A typical Level 2 audit takes 4–8 weeks from the site visit to the final report delivery.
3. Will the audit disrupt our production or operations?
No. Our measurements are "non-intrusive." We use clamp-on meters and sensors that do not require shutting down your machines.
4. Is it mandatory under EECA 2024?
Yes. If you exceed the energy threshold (21,600 GJ/year), you must conduct an audit every 5 years by a Registered Energy Auditor (REA).
5. What instruments do you use?
We use Power Quality Analyzers, Thermal Imaging Cameras, Ultrasonic Flowmeters (for water/chilled water), and Lux Meters (for lighting).
6. Can we do the audit ourselves?
For internal tracking, yes. But for legal compliance with the Energy Commission, the report MUST be signed by a certified Registered Energy Auditor (REA).
7. What is the difference between an Energy Audit and an Energy Management System (EnMS)?
An audit is a technical inspection. An EnMS is a management policy (like ISO 50001) that ensures the audit's recommendations are actually followed.
8. Do you provide a guarantee for the savings?
We provide high-accuracy engineering calculations. Actual savings depend on your facility's commitment to implementing our recommendations.
9. Do you help with the implementation of the meaasures?
Yes. We can act as your project manager to ensure the vendors install the energy-saving equipment correctly.
10. Can we apply for government incentives (GITA/GITE) based on your report?
Yes! Our reports can be used as supporting documents for Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) and Green Income Tax Exemption (GITE) applications in Malaysia.
